PDF Form Filler

Complete fillable PDF forms without installing anything. Drop the form, and every field appears as a normal input – text boxes, check boxes, radio groups, dropdowns and list boxes – labelled with its tooltip, page and whether it is required. Fill them in, or load values from JSON, then save the completed PDF, optionally flattened so the answers cannot be changed.

PDF Form Filler FAQ

Which forms work?

PDFs with standard (AcroForm) fields, which is almost every fillable PDF. XFA forms made with Adobe LiveCycle only work in Adobe Reader; the tool tells you when a form is XFA.

My PDF has no fields. What now?

Add fields with the PDF Form Creator, or place text on the page with Sign PDF.

What is the JSON format?

An object of field names and values: {"Name": "Ada", "Agree": true, "Size": "M"}. The PDF Form Field Extractor exports exactly this format.

Should I flatten?

Flatten when the form is final and should not be changed. Leave it unflattened if someone still needs to edit or sign it.

Are calculations and scripts run?

No. Form scripts are not executed; calculated fields keep their current values.

Is my data uploaded?

No. Filling happens entirely in your browser.

Filling PDF forms in the browser

Fillable PDFs contain interactive fields defined in the document’s AcroForm. Each field has a name, a type and one or more widgets that show it on the page. Browsers can display many forms, but saving the filled values reliably, especially with check boxes, radio groups and dropdowns, often fails or requires a desktop application.

The form filler reads every field with pdf-lib and builds a clean web form from it, using the field’s tooltip as label where the author provided one, and showing the page and whether the field is required or read-only. Maximum lengths are enforced as you type.

When you save, the values are written into the fields and their visual appearances are regenerated, so the answers show up in every viewer, including browsers and phone apps. Required fields that are still empty are pointed out, but you can save anyway.

For repeated forms, the JSON option fills many fields in one step. Export the structure once with the Form Field Extractor, keep your values, and paste them next time.
