PDF Form Creator FAQ
Which field types can I add?
Single-line text, multi-line text, check boxes and dropdowns with your own choices.
How do I name fields?
Fields get names like Text1 automatically; rename them in the list. Names must be unique and cannot contain dots.
Will the form work in other programs?
Yes. The fields are standard AcroForm fields supported by all major PDF readers.
Can I edit existing fields?
This tool adds fields; existing ones are kept unchanged. Use the Form Field Extractor to see them.
Can I add calculations?
No. The fields are plain inputs without scripts, which also keeps the form safe and portable.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser.
Creating fillable PDF forms
Many forms are distributed as PDFs that look like forms but cannot be filled on screen: people print them, write by hand and scan them back. Adding interactive fields turns such a document into a real form that can be completed on any device and read reliably.
The creator shows each page and lets you draw rectangles where answers belong. Each rectangle becomes a field of the chosen type, positioned in PDF coordinates that match the page as you see it, including pages with a rotation or a crop box. Fields get a thin border and white background so they are easy to spot.
Field names matter for whoever processes the results: they are the keys in exported data. The list lets you give each field a meaningful name and mark fields as required, which readers highlight when the form is submitted or checked.
Saving adds the fields to the document’s AcroForm with pdf-lib. The original page content is untouched, so the form looks exactly as before – just fillable.
