PDF Report Generator
Turn plain text into a professional PDF report. Write your content with simple marks – # for headings, - for bullets, | for tables – and the generator adds a cover page with your logo, a table of contents with page numbers, a running header and page numbering. The preview updates as you type, and the finished report downloads as a PDF with real, searchable text.

PDF Report Generator FAQ
Which formatting can I use?
Lines starting with #, ## or ### are headings; - or * starts a bullet; 1. starts a numbered item; > makes a highlighted quote; lines between | characters form a table, the first row being the header; --- draws a line; **text** is bold and *text* italic. Blank lines separate paragraphs.
How is the table of contents made?
Every # and ## heading becomes an entry. The page numbers are calculated when the PDF is built, so they are always correct.
Can I paste text from Word?
Yes. Paste the text and add the marks for headings and lists; formatting from Word itself is not kept.
Can I add charts?
Not directly. Create a chart with the Chart Maker, save it as an image and combine the PDFs, or add the chart to a PDF page with an image tool.
Which languages are supported?
The Roboto font covers Latin, Greek and Cyrillic letters. Text in other scripts, such as Bengali or Arabic, cannot be drawn and is reported before the PDF is built.
Is my report uploaded?
No. The PDF is generated in your browser with pdfmake.
Writing reports that are easy to read
A good report is built around its structure. Readers skim the table of contents, jump to the section they need and read the first sentences of each part. Clear headings, short paragraphs and lists help them find the information quickly; long blocks of text without structure make even good content hard to use.
Most reports follow the same outline. An executive summary states the main results and recommendations in a few sentences. The main sections present the facts, usually with tables or figures, and explain what they mean. A final section lists the next steps or decisions needed. Starting with the summary respects the reader’s time: many will read nothing else.
The generator uses a small set of text marks, similar to Markdown, so you can concentrate on the content instead of the layout. Headings become the table of contents automatically, tables receive a coloured header row and alternating stripes, and quotes are highlighted with a bar in the accent colour. Choose a colour that matches your organisation, and add a logo to the cover for a finished look.
Page numbers and a running header help when the report is printed or discussed in a meeting: “see page 4, revenue by quarter” works only if everyone has numbered pages. The cover page and contents page are not numbered, as in most printed reports.
Because the PDF is built in your browser, confidential figures never leave your computer. The result contains real text, so it can be searched, copied and read by screen readers. Keep the plain-text version of your report to update it next month: paste it back in, change the numbers and download a new PDF.
