PDF Portfolio Maker

Present your work as a clean PDF portfolio. Choose your images, add captions and a short introduction, pick a layout – one image per page, a grid of four or a featured layout – and a light or dark background. The maker adds a cover page with your name and a contact page at the end, and builds the PDF in your browser, ready to send to clients or attach to an application.

PDF Portfolio Maker FAQ

How many images can I add?

Up to 24 per portfolio. For more, create several PDFs and combine them with Merge PDF.

Are my images compressed?

Images are scaled so that their longer side is at most 2000 pixels and saved as high-quality JPEG (PNG if they have transparency). That is sharp on screen and in print up to about A4, and keeps the PDF small enough to e-mail.

In which order do images appear?

In the order in which they are selected in the file dialog. Captions are matched line by line in the same order.

Can I mix portrait and landscape images?

Yes. Every image is fitted into its frame without cropping, so nothing is cut off; landscape paper suits mostly landscape images, portrait paper the opposite.

Why do I see grey boxes?

Before you add images the preview shows placeholder frames so you can judge the layout.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Everything is processed in your browser.

Putting together a strong portfolio

A portfolio is judged in minutes, often in seconds per page. Reviewers look for quality, consistency and fit with what they need, so the selection matters more than the quantity. Ten excellent pieces make a stronger impression than thirty mixed ones. Start and end with your best work, because the first and last images are remembered most.

Captions give context without distracting: the project, the client or place and the year are usually enough. For design work, a short note on your role – “art direction and packaging” – helps reviewers understand what you actually did. The introduction on the cover should say in two or three sentences what you do and for whom.

The three layouts serve different purposes. One image per page gives each photograph full attention and suits photography and illustration. The grid shows a series or several views of one project at once, as architects and product designers often need. The featured layout combines a hero image with two details, a classic arrangement for case studies.

A dark background makes colours glow on screen and is popular for photography; a white background is calmer, prints better and suits architecture and documents. Whatever you choose, keep it consistent across the portfolio.

Send the PDF rather than a folder of images: it keeps your order and captions, opens on every device, and is a single attachment. If a recipient asks for a smaller file, use the PDF Compressor; for a printed version, ask a print shop for a stitched booklet.
