    Product Title Generator FAQ

What makes a good product title?

It says what the product is in the words buyers use, then the details they filter by: brand, key attribute, material, colour, size or quantity. It is readable, accurate and free of promotional phrases.

    Should the brand come first?

For well-known brands, yes: buyers search for them. For your own unknown brand, product type and main attribute may matter more; the generator offers both orders.

    How long can titles be?

Etsy allows 140 characters and eBay 80. Google Shopping accepts 150 but shows about 70. In your own shop, titles around 70 characters display well and work as page titles.

Should I add words like “best” or “sale”?

No. Most marketplaces forbid promotional wording in titles, and buyers ignore it. Put offers in the price and the description.

    What about Amazon?

Amazon has its own rules on length, characters and repeated words. Use the Amazon Product Title Generator on this site, which checks them.

    Is anything stored?

No. Titles are generated in your browser.

    Titles are search terms

On a marketplace, the title is the main text the search engine matches against what buyers type. A title that contains “leather wallet” is found by people searching for a leather wallet; a title that calls it “The Classic” is not. That is why effective product titles read a little like a list of search terms, arranged in a sensible order.

The common order is brand, product type, the most important attribute, and then details such as material, colour, size and quantity. Buyers scan from the left, and some platforms cut titles off, so the words that decide a click must come first. The rest helps the item appear in filtered and more specific searches.

Every platform sets limits. Etsy allows long titles but shows only the beginning in search results. eBay limits titles to eighty characters. Google Shopping accepts more text than it displays. Choose the platform and the generator measures each title against it, so you can see at once which ones fit.

Accuracy matters more than cleverness. A title that promises a feature the product lacks causes returns and poor reviews, and marketplaces penalise misleading listings. Use the attributes buyers actually care about, keep them true, and leave promotions and superlatives out of the title.
