PDF Resume Maker FAQ

How do I enter my experience?

Write one line per job: job title, employer and place, and dates, separated by | characters. Put achievements below it as lines starting with -. A new line with | or a blank line starts the next job.

Will applicant tracking systems read it?

The PDF contains real text in a standard font, so text extraction works. The classic and compact templates are the safest choice for automated systems because they use a single column.

Should I add a photo?

It depends on the country. Photos are common in much of Europe and Asia but discouraged in the US, UK and Canada to avoid bias. When unsure, leave it out.

How long should my resume be?

One page for up to about ten years of experience, two pages for longer careers. The tool warns you when the resume runs to three pages or more.

Is my data stored?

No. The resume is built in your browser and nothing is uploaded or saved on our server. Keep a copy of your text to update it later.

Which languages are supported?

Latin, Greek and Cyrillic letters through the Roboto font.

Writing a resume that gets read

Recruiters often spend less than a minute on a first look at a resume. In that time they check your current role, your recent employers, the length of your experience and a few key skills. A clear structure with consistent headings and dates on the right helps them find all of that at a glance.

Describe results, not duties. “Cut monthly reporting time from 5 days to 1” says more than “responsible for reporting”. Start bullets with a verb, include numbers where you can, and keep each bullet to one line. Three to five bullets for your current role and fewer for older positions are usually enough.

Tailor the resume to each application. Read the job advert, then make sure its most important skills appear in your headline, profile and skills list – in the same words, because applicant tracking systems match keywords. The plain-text input makes this quick: change a few lines and download a new version.

The three templates suit different situations. Classic is conservative and the most robust for automated systems. The modern sidebar template puts contact details, skills and languages in a coloured column and leaves the main column for your story. Compact uses smaller margins and type to fit a long career on fewer pages.

Your resume contains personal data, so this tool processes everything locally: names, addresses and phone numbers are never sent to a server. Save the PDF with your name in the file name, which the tool does automatically, so recruiters can find it among many attachments.
