PDF Comments Remover FAQ
Which comments are removed?
Sticky notes, text boxes, insert marks, attachments, sounds and pop-ups always; highlights, underlines, strike-throughs and squiggles, and drawings, shapes and stamps when those options are ticked.
Are links and form fields affected?
No. They are never removed by this tool.
What about comments typed into the page?
Text that is part of the page content is not a comment annotation and stays.
Does the document text change?
No. Only annotations are removed.
Can I choose individual comments?
Not here; use the PDF Annotation Remover to pick types, or a PDF editor for single comments.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser.
Removing review comments from PDFs
Reviewing a PDF leaves traces: notes, replies, highlights and markups made in Acrobat, Preview, Edge or a tablet app. They are useful during the review but should not reach the final reader, and they can reveal internal discussion that was never meant to be shared.
Comments in PDF are markup annotations, a family of annotation types that includes text notes, free text boxes, highlights, underlines, strike-outs, ink drawings, shapes and stamps. The remover targets that family and leaves functional annotations – links and form fields – untouched.
Because some people use highlights as permanent emphasis or stamps as approval marks, those groups are optional. The counts shown after you drop the file help decide: if a file has 40 notes and 3 stamps, you may want to keep the stamps.
Removal is done with pdf-lib on the page annotation lists. The page content, the text and the images are not touched.
Before removing comments, consider whether you need a record of the review. Keep a copy of the commented file for your archive and share only the cleaned version, so the discussion history is preserved where it belongs.
