TIFF to PNG Converter
Convert TIFF files to PNG without losing any quality. PNG is lossless like TIFF, keeps transparency and opens in every browser and program. Multi-page TIFFs are split into one PNG per page, and many files can be converted at once – all in your browser, so scans and documents stay private.

TIFF to PNG FAQ
Is the conversion lossless?
Yes. PNG stores the decoded pixels exactly. Note that 16-bit TIFFs are reduced to 8 bits per channel, the depth browsers work with.
Will the file be smaller?
Often yes for uncompressed TIFFs; for TIFFs already compressed with LZW or fax compression, the PNG can be similar or larger.
Black-and-white scans become large. Why?
Fax-compressed TIFFs store one bit per pixel very efficiently. PNG stores them as 8-bit images. For text documents, consider converting to PDF instead.
Can I convert to JPG instead?
Yes, with the TIFF to JPG converter, which produces smaller files for photos.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser.
Lossless conversion from TIFF
TIFF and PNG are both lossless formats, but they target different worlds. TIFF is a professional container with many options – multiple pages, various compressions, 16-bit colour, CMYK – which is why it is used by scanners and print workflows. PNG is a simpler, universally supported format for the screen, with excellent lossless compression and transparency.
Converting TIFF to PNG keeps every pixel. The converter reads each image directory of the TIFF with UTIF.js, decompresses the page, converts it to standard 8-bit RGBA and encodes it as PNG. Thumbnail directories and masks are skipped so only real pages are converted.
Bit depth is the main thing to know: browsers work with 8 bits per channel, so 16-bit TIFFs from scanners or cameras are reduced to 8 bits. For screen use and most printing this makes no visible difference; keep the original TIFF if you need the extra precision for heavy editing.
PNG is ideal as an intermediate format for further work: OCR, editing, annotation or conversion to PDF.
For multi-page scans that belong together, combine the PNG pages into a single PDF afterwards with the JPG to PDF tool, which also accepts PNG files.
The conversion runs entirely in your browser.
