LinkedIn Banner Resizer FAQ
What size is the LinkedIn profile background?
1584 × 396 pixels, a 4:1 ratio, with a maximum file size of 8 MB. JPG and PNG are accepted.
What size is a LinkedIn company page cover?
1128 × 191 pixels. It is very wide, so choose an image with a horizontal subject or use a simple pattern or gradient.
Where does my profile picture overlap the banner?
On personal profiles the circular photo sits over the lower left area of the banner on desktop and lower centre-left on mobile. Place text and logos towards the right.
Why does my banner look blurry?
LinkedIn compresses uploads. Start with a high-resolution image, avoid enlarging small images, and use PNG for designs with text.
Can I use the same image for my company page?
The shapes differ a lot (4:1 versus about 6:1), so frame each separately. This tool lets you tick both sizes and position each crop independently.
What makes a good LinkedIn banner
A LinkedIn banner is the first thing visitors see on a profile, and most people leave the default blue pattern in place. Replacing it with a relevant image, such as your city skyline, a product, a workspace or a simple branded design, signals attention to detail before anyone reads a word of your profile.
Banners on LinkedIn are extremely wide, which rules out most photos without cropping. Landscapes, panoramas, desk set-ups shot from above and abstract textures crop well into 4:1. Portraits and group photos usually do not, because faces end up cut through the middle. The live frame in this tool makes it obvious which compositions work.
The profile picture and name block overlap the banner, and their position differs between desktop and mobile. Keeping the banner’s message on the right half avoids collisions. Short phrases, such as a role, a specialism or a website, work better than full sentences, which become tiny on phones.
For company pages, the cover sits above the logo and page name. A clean brand-coloured design with a short tagline or a product image communicates more clearly than a busy photo, and stays legible when scaled down on mobile.
