Keyword Grouping Tool
Sort a keyword list into groups that make sense for planning. Choose modifier grouping to separate questions, comparisons, “best” and review searches, buying searches, local searches, audience-specific searches, fresh searches with a year and how-to guides from head terms. Choose main-word grouping to bucket keywords by their most distinctive frequent word, or define your own groups with simple rules such as “Trail: trail, waterproof”.

Keyword Grouping Tool FAQ
How is this different from clustering?
Clustering finds topics on its own from shared words. Grouping applies fixed patterns or your own rules, which is predictable and good for structuring a list.
Does a keyword appear in several groups?
No. It goes to the first matching group, so order your custom rules from most to least specific.
Are plurals matched?
Yes. Rule words and keywords are reduced to a simple stem, so “shoe” matches “shoes”.
Are the modifier patterns English only?
Yes. For other languages use your own rules.
Why group keywords
A raw keyword export mixes very different needs: people asking questions, comparing products, ready to buy or looking for a local shop. Grouping by modifier separates them so each group can get the right type of page or ad.
Custom rules are useful when you know your catalogue: one line per product line, brand or theme turns a long list into a structure you can hand to writers or advertisers.
Group totals help you see where the demand is before you decide what to build.
Privacy: everything on this page runs in your browser. What you type or paste is not uploaded, stored or logged, and the result is generated on your device, so you can safely work with unpublished content, client data or drafts.
Tip: the result updates as you type, so you can try variations quickly. Copy the output with one click or download it as a file, and keep a copy of your input if you want to come back later – nothing is saved between visits.
Who it is for: the tool is built for site owners, marketers, writers and developers alike. You do not need to install anything or create an account, it works on phones as well as on desktop computers, and the results are plain text you can paste into any CMS, spreadsheet, code editor or ticket.
Accuracy: the rules used here are documented on the page and follow the published guidelines of the major search engines and web standards. Where a result is an approximation or a rule of thumb rather than an official limit, the page says so, so you can decide how much weight to give it.
Good practice: generated markup and files only help when they match the real page. Publish them together with the visible content they describe, test the page with the official tools from the search engines, and update the markup whenever the page changes.
